Dr. Pepper Baby Back Ribs
Savor flavorful, soft baby back ribs with a tart and sweet Dr. Pepper glaze. These ribs are a hit at any barbecue because of the distinctive twist this recipe gives to the traditional smoked ribs.
Ingredients:
- 2 racks baby back ribs
- 1 can 12 oz Dr
- Pepper
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup paprika
- 2 tablespoons black pepper
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup mustard for brushing
Instructions:
Preheat your smoker to 225F 107C
Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs
In a bowl, mix brown sugar, paprika, black pepper, salt, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper to create the rub
Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the ribs
Place the rubbed ribs in the smoker and smoke for 3 hours
In a saucepan, combine Dr
Pepper and remaining rub
Simmer for 15-20 minutes to create a glaze
Brush the ribs with mustard and then glaze with the Dr
Pepper mixture
Continue smoking for an additional 1-2 hours or until the ribs reach your desired tenderness
Remove the ribs from the smoker, let them rest for a few minutes, then slice and serve
